Margo Zaiets is originally from Ukraine and has been connected to the stage since childhood. She studied piano and popular and folk singing at music school and spent her early years training in dance and acrobatics at the Ovation studio. These early artistic disciplines laid the groundwork for her theatrical journey. Seeking formal acting training, she enrolled in the School‑Studio of the Moscow Art Theatre. She spent two years immersed in text‑based theatre and explored the methods of Stanislavski, Chekhov, and Jerzy Grotowski.
When Russia’s full‑scale invasion of Ukraine began, Margo emigrated to the UK to continue her education. She is now enrolled in the European Theatre Arts programme at Rose Bruford College in London. There she discovered physical theatre, clowning, devising, and commedia dell’arte. The programme has broadened her understanding of theatre and provided a strong foundation in research through practice, theatre‑making, and performing.
During her second year, she took part in an exchange at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, Czech Republic. There she sharpened her skills in choreography, ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance, and began exploring hybrid forms combining live performance and video. One of the projects from that time, Delulu is the Solulu, looked at a post‑capitalist world and the role of art within it. It was an immersive show played across four screens that drew the audience into the action.
Now, in her third year, Margo is developing a solo performance called Lessons of Jazz. Inspired by the postdramatic theatre of Tadeusz Kantor, the piece blends multimedia and The Sims 4 life simulator to create a unique stage experience. In her free time she continues to maintain her choreography and acrobatic skills, and her background in piano and contemporary singing helps her feel at home in musical performance.
Working within two very different theatrical traditions — the disciplined Ukrainian–Russian school and the experimental British approach — has enabled Margo to develop a flexible creative method that balances structure with spontaneity. She now lives in London/Sidcup, speaks Ukrainian, Russian, and English, and is always looking for new collaborations and ways to push her artistry further.
